Absolutely! We warmly welcome parents to be a part of this exciting journey. However, please note that our viewing space is somewhat limited, so it's a first-come, first-serve situation. We kindly request that parents who attend maintain a supportive yet quiet presence. To ensure a focused environment for all participants and the attending college coaches, we ask that you refrain from cheering or making comments during the session. Your understanding and cooperation help us create a professional atmosphere that allows each young athlete to showcase their skills to the fullest. Thank you for your support and understanding!
It's essential to come prepared for success. Think of this event as a formal team practice and dress accordingly. Here are some specific guidelines to help you make the best impression:
Footwear: The NES facility features a turfed surface, so it's important to choose appropriate footwear. Molded cleats are permitted, but please refrain from wearing metal cleats. For optimal traction, we recommend turf shoes.
Attire: We will provide tee shirts with numbers for identification during the event. Please wear your own baseball pants, a belt, and your favorite baseball cap. Remember, your choice of attire is part of the impression you make.
Equipment: Be game ready! Position players will need to bring a batting helmet, gloves are optional. Full catcher's gear is required with a cup. Pitchers should treat this like a start. Bring your bands and plyos if you use them.
Presentation: This event is an opportunity to showcase not just your skills, but also your professionalism and readiness for college-level play. College coaches will be observing all aspects of your appearance and behavior. They are looking for players who will be a good fit for their programs, so presenting yourself well is key.
Mindset: Bring your best attitude and a mindset focused on teamwork and sportsmanship. Coaches are looking for players who are not only skilled but also great team players.Come prepared, show your passion for the game, and make this a memorable and impactful experience. We can't wait to see you there!
What should pitchers know about the event?
When you arrive, follow your normal warmup routine. Pay attention to stretching, especially if you have not thrown in awhile. If you are PO, you will not have to take Batting Practice. We encourage ALL pitchers to run and be timed in the 30 yard dash. Pitchers will have a chance to throw flat ground to warm-up and throw off a mound in a practice round, before taking the bump to be measured. Will have a Trackman and Pitch Logic balls to track velocity and spin rate. You will have 5 throws for each of the pitches in your arsenal. We will verbally tell you your velo, but your measurements will not be official until we post them to social media on a leaderboard or post them to your personal profile.
When you arrive, follow your normal pre-game warmup routine. Pay attention to stretching, especially if you have not played in awhile. Since you will be running, fielding, throwing and hitting, it is important to pace yourself and give it your best effort at the right time. For 90% of players, their first running attempt will be their best. We will do two rounds to ensure your best time. If you trip or fall, complete your run and you will be given another chance. If your hat falls off at any point of your running or fielding, let it go. Coaches will understand. No one will be allowed to hit without a batting helmet. Each player will be given 10 swings to record their velo. Coaches are looking for good form and want to know your measurement. If you hit a screamer to the shortstop, that is considered a Quality At-Bat. They are not looking for a HR every time, but if you do that that would be pretty cool! Coaches are looking for quick hands, feet and good form fielding with a quality throw. A 90 mph acorss the diamond 10 ft over the 1st baseman's head is not as good as an 85 mph throw to the chest.
When you arrive, follow your normal pre-game warmup routine. Pay attention to stretching, especially if you have not played in awhile. Since you will be running, fielding, throwing and hitting, it is important to pace yourself and give it your best effort at the right time. Catchers are in high demand, so be prepared to have a lot of eyeballs on your performance. Quick, athletic catchers are a hot commodity, so if you have a great pop-time make sure you have the energy at the end to show the coaches what you can do. Catchers will get 10 swings that will be measured and will catch pitchers during their warm-up and live sessions. Assume that you are being watched at every moment so that your receiving, transfer and throwing skills are on display at all times. You will be given 5 throws to measure velo to 2nd and your fielding skills on bunts down the lines and to the pitcher will be evaluated.
