KNOW YOUR DATES & GATES
NCAA RECRUITING CALENDAR
Maximize your recruiting potential! Understanding the NCAA calendar is vital for high school athletes and parents. Stay informed about key dates and rules to navigate your journey to college sports success.
PLAYERS & PARENTS:
DON'T GET FRUSTRATED
GET INFORMED!
I hear it all the time, "The coach is not writing me back. They've moved on." Or, "I didnt get any calls the last few weeks, they don't think I'm good enough." While it is hard to read some coaches, it is not hard to read a calendar! Often times the coach IS still interested, he just is not allowed to contact student athlete due to the NCAA rules.
Understanding the dates and the rules is critical to your mental health and perception as you go through the process. Here is you need to know:
Quiet Period:
During this time, coaches can only interact with recruits in-person on their own college campuses. Any off-campus in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations are not allowed.
Dead Period:
This is a phase where in-person recruiting interactions, both on and off-campus, are prohibited. Prospective student-athletes are also not permitted to visit the college campus officially or unofficially.
Evaluation Period:
This period allows authorized staff from the athletics department to conduct off-campus activities to assess recruits' academic and athletic capabilities. However, they are not permitted to make any in-person recruiting contacts with the prospective student-athletes during these evaluations.

DIVISION III
In comparison to Division 1 and Division 2 schools, Division 3 schools have the most relaxed NCAA baseball recruiting rules.
For D3 schools, there are no dead periods. The contact period is effectively year-round.
NAIA and JUNIOR COLLEGE (JUCO)
The NAIA and junior colleges do not regulate contact and communication for coaches. There is no recruiting calendar for either.
Unlike the NCAA, the NAIA does not regulate or limit the contact and communication between a coach and a current high school athlete, nor does it regulate campus visits and tryouts.
Junior college coaches are free to contact prospective student-athletes at any time provided they have not signed a junior college letter of intent. There is no baseball recruiting calendar.
